Who we are
FuelInject is a vehicle ownership app for tracking fuel, mileage, expenses, service reminders and trips. It is developed and published by Ram Charan, an individual developer based in India ("we", "us").
This policy explains what data the FuelInject Android app handles, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it. It covers the app only, not other websites or services we link to.
What we collect
If you use the app without an account
Everything you enter (vehicles, fill-ups, expenses, trips and reminders) is stored only in the app's storage on your phone. We don't receive it. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Banner ads still load for guests, so the advertising data in section 4 applies to everyone.
If you sign in with Google
| Data | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name, email address and Google account identifier, received from Google when you sign in | To create and secure your account |
| Profile | Display name, a random 6-character friend ID, account creation date | To identify your account in the app |
| Vehicles | Name, type, make, model, year, fuel type, registration number, odometer, tank capacity, notes | Backup and restore across phones |
| Fill-ups | Date, litres, price per litre, total cost, odometer, fuel grade, station name, notes | Backup, mileage and cost calculations |
| Expenses | Date, category, amount, description, notes | Backup and spending reports |
| Notification token | A device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging | To deliver push notifications to your phone |
Trips (GPS routes) and reminders are never uploaded, even when you're signed in. They stay on your phone.
What we don't collect
- Contacts, SMS, call logs, photos, files or other apps on your phone.
- Payment or card details. FuelInject has no in-app purchases.
- Health information, or your location in the background.
Location
FuelInject asks for location permission only when you use a feature that needs it, and only while the app is open. It never tracks you in the background.
- Trips: your GPS position is used to measure distance and route. The trip is saved on your phone only.
- Nearby petrol bunks: your current coordinates are sent to Google Places, or to the OpenStreetMap Overpass service if Google is unavailable, to find bunks near you. We don't store these coordinates.
- Directions: tapping Directions opens Google Maps, which handles your location under Google's own privacy policy.
You can turn location off at any time in Android Settings → Apps → FuelInject → Permissions. Everything except trips and the nearby search keeps working.
Advertising
FuelInject shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK collects and processes, under Google's control:
- Your device's advertising ID.
- Your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location.
- Device and app information, ad interactions, and diagnostic data such as crash and performance logs.
Google may use this data for personalised advertising. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads on newer Android versions). Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
How we use data
- To provide the app's features: mileage, costs, reminders, reports and insights are calculated on your phone.
- To back up and restore your data when you sign in on another phone.
- To send notifications you've asked for.
- To show ads that keep the app free.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. The only data that leaves your control for advertising is what Google AdMob collects, described in section 4.
Service providers
We use these services to run the app. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
| Service | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Authentication | Sign in with Google | Name, email, account identifier |
| Google Cloud Firestore | Stores your account's backup | Profile, vehicles, fill-ups, expenses |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Push notifications | Device token |
| Google AdMob | Banner ads | See section 4 |
| Google Places API | Nearby petrol bunk search | Coordinates at the time of search |
| OpenStreetMap Overpass | Fallback bunk search | Coordinates at the time of search |

Storage & security
- Account backups are stored in Google Cloud Firestore in Mumbai, India (asia-south1).
- All data sent between the app and these services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Your vehicles, fill-ups and expenses can only be read or changed by your own signed-in account.
- Your profile record (name, email address and friend ID) can be looked up by other signed-in FuelInject accounts. It exists for friend features, which are not yet available in the app, and the app doesn't show it to anyone today.
Some service providers, such as Google AdMob, may process data outside India.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Retention
- Guest data: stays on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Account data: kept while your account exists.
- After you delete your account: erased permanently within 30 days. See section 9.
- Nearby search coordinates: not stored by us.
- Advertising data: retained by Google under its own policies.
Delete your account
Full details, including a request link if you no longer have the app: fuelinject.rcinsights.org/delete-account.
In the app
- Open FuelInject and tap your profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
You're signed out immediately, and the data stored by the app on that phone is wiped. The app shows you the exact date your account will be permanently deleted, 30 days later. If you sign in again before that date, you can choose to restore the account.
Without the app
Email rc.dev.official@gmail.com from the Google account you signed in with, using the subject "Delete my FuelInject account". We'll confirm by reply, then delete it the same way.
What is deleted: your account and sign-in, profile, vehicles, fill-ups, expenses and notification token, permanently, after the 30-day grace period.
What isn't: data stored on another phone where you used the app without signing in (uninstall the app there), and advertising data held by Google, which you can manage in your Google account.
Your choices
- See and correct your data: everything you've entered is visible and editable in the app.
- Delete individual records in the app, or your whole account (section 9).
- Withdraw consent: sign out, revoke location or notification permission, or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your account data, or raise any privacy concern, using the contact below.
Depending on where you live, for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have further rights, such as grievance redressal. Contact us to use them. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Children
FuelInject is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change how the app handles data, for example when friend and group-ride features launch, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top before the change takes effect.
